What We Offer

Astra CAD designs some of the highest quality under floor heating (UFH) systems using the latest technology to craft the very best solution for your needs.

Our head office is based in the United Kingdom in West London, and we have partners and affiliates based in India that assure the continued low pricing coupled with high quality output that all our clients have come to enjoy and expect.

From your first contact with us you can be assured of the highest level of service, combined with the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are getting the most qualified staff working for you and manifold technology at a price that some of our competitors struggle to meet. Underfloor heating made simple.

  • We ensure speedy responses to quote requests
  • Binding Quotations
  • Friendly technical staff willing to advise you and answer all related questions
  • Excellently designed UFH solutions

Our Service

Our service starts from the moment we receive your plans. Upon confirmation of your order we proceed to full CAD design of your system. Our systematic approach to doing business with our clients ensure invariably that what is delivered to you is exaclty what was desired.

Why Underfloor Heating?

The majority of the population now spends at least 22 of every 24 hours in some kind of artificial climate.

Underfloor Radiant Heating

Utilising today's modern multilayer pipes, control systems and high efficiency boilers, the underfloor heating systems of today are extremely comfortable and controllable. Radiators are no longer needed so giving more room space. The heat is more evenly distributed and dust is not circulated.

Underfloor heating from the whole floor area of the house gently warms the air above, eliminating cold spots. The warm air convects from the floor surface losing approximately 2 degrees centigrade at 2.0 meters above the floor, which makes the system ideal for all ceiling heights.

Independent tests reveal that the most acceptable indoor climate is one in which the floor temperature ranges between 19-29°C and the air temperature at head level ranges between 20 and 24°C. With radiator or convector heating systems a vertical temperature gradient is produced; colder at foot level than at the head.

Underfloor heating has made it possible to reduce energy consumption by using low water temperatures. These systems, based on the development of complex and very high quality plastic pipe, such as the multilayer pipe, now account for over 60% of some European heating markets.

Some Features & Benefits

There are a number of features and benefits that can be experienced from the utilisation of underfloor heating.

Space & Economics
Every square metre of your home can be fully utilised and the cost for our system is very similar to a radiator system.

Hygiene
No dust and the underfloor heating will help to reduce house dust mites which is a benefit to asthma sufferers. Moisture content is too low, to support dust mites.

Aesthetics and Labour saving
You can design your home to suit your needs rather than that of your heating engineer. Cleaning of the floors is easier and wet floors dry very quickly. Prevents discolouration of paintwork, peeling of paper etc.

Comfort
Radiant heat will provide the highest comfort levels at an even temperature throughout.

Silence
Compared to radiator systems, there is no noise. No annoying ticking as pipes expand in floor voids.

Cost effective
It has been proven that energy saving from 15-40% can be achieved with underfloor heating.

Ease of control
Small temperature between the floor surface and the air above means the system is practically self regulating.

Design Procedure

You can choose whatever steps you require. Our services will be adjusted as per your needs.

Step 1 – Calculating the Pipe Spacing

On receiving the floor plans, was can calculate the W/m 2 heat loss and hence tell what pipe spacing is required in different zones. This we do by measuring the areas of individual zones, for which we have the heat loss and then calculating the W/m 2 value. The W/m 2 value tell us what pipe spacing is needed for that area.

Step 2 – Deciding the Manifold Size and Pipe sizes

We use software provided by our clients which, based on the W/m2 calculates the manifold size and the pipe thickness and spacing to achieve an optimal system. Since these softwares are proprietary, we would need yourselves to supply us with the software /tools that is suitable to your working practices.

Step 3 – Designing the pipe Layout

We use AutoCAD for all or design work. Paper based floor plan drawings can be converted into AutoCAD files either by redrawing them or with Vectorisation. Depending on the design parameters, we then layout the piping design onto CAD Floor plans. The piping layout can be any of the following patterns:

Floor Types – We can design piping pattern for all types of floors weather they be flat screeded floors or with Battens and Joists.

Insulation boards Systems – We can design the laying pattern for the board system. We work with a wide range of board systems and are capable of adapting to any new systems as they are introduced.

Step 4 – Bill of Material

Based on the piping design we can prepare a Bill of material, and schedule of pipe lengths for cutting.

Working Standards

We follow CAD standards as per your requirements to ensure seamless integration of the output with your company standards, i.e. various elements on the drawings will be layered as per your requirements. We follow a 2-tier work and checking process, to ensure that the output is of a very high quality.

Drawing elements and details are scaled on the paper scale at the relevant scale and Title Block is applied. We will apply your company Title Block, so that the drawing is ready for you to print.
