In order to provide a heating solution to any building, it is important to calculate the amount of heat that must be supplied to ensure that the design indoor temperature (dependent one type of use) is achieved.
Based on the construction of the building, its geometry as well as Interior design temperature we calculate the heat loads for each individual room and zone. Fabric Heat Losses are calculated as well as Ventilation Heat Losses.

Fabric Heat Losses
Heat losses across the Fabric of an individual rooms or zones are calculated based on the material and details of its components, and the surrounding areas.
Ventilation Heat Loss
Ventilation Heat Losses are based on the size and use of a given room or zone and these are calculated separately.
Our calculations also take into consideration additional factors such as
- Building Exposure
- High Ceilings (for non UFH Systems)
- Intermittent Heating (as appropriate)
Information Required
In most cases where building are built as per Building Regulations, all we require is the floor plans and elevations (where possible). If older building are involved it is useful to have details of the building construction to do the necessary calculations. If U Values are available, these would be requested.
Output Provided
In addition to the total heat loss for a project, we can provide;
Name Listing - of each Room / Zone
Area - of each Room / Zone (in sq meters or square feet)
Design Room Temperature - of each Room / Zone ( in Degrees Celsius or Degrees Fahrenheit )
Heat Loss - of each Room / Zone (in Watts or Btu / hour)
If further details are required for analysis we can also provide, further breakup of heat looses, such as, Heat Loss through poor quality windows, doors, inadequate insulation etc, which can allow the project design to be revisited or improved for increasing the efficiency of the design.
